What can I expect?

At the beginning of each session, J completes an intake process with every client to check in on their overall health and well-being and to determine the goals for that session. Then, both the client and J work together to create an individualized treatment plan for that session based on the goals, boundaries, wants, and needs of the client.

After the intake process, J will give instructions about how to get on the table. Usually this means undressing to your level of comfort and getting under the sheets face up.

Do I have to be naked?

While removing all clothing is beneficial as it gives J access to gluteal muscles, it is certainly not mandatory. Massage therapy should be an empowering opportunity for you to connect with your body in a positive way. If getting undressed (to any degree) will get in the way of you having a positive experience - don't do it. Express your concerns to J prior to the start of the massage and together you will develop a plan that works to meet your goals and your comfort.

Will I be "exposed?"

At no time will any sensitive areas be exposed during the course of the massage. Massage therapists are well trained in "draping," meaning that they can do their work while keeping private areas private by using the sheets as a tool - exposing only the area of the body that will be worked on. Genitals will never be touched or exposed during the course of a massage.

I have ticklish feet! What if I laugh?

Laughing is completely fine! But also, during the intake process, J will ask you if there are any parts of the body that you don't like to have touched (for any reason). At that time, you can always let J know if you have any ticklish areas you'd prefer to not have touched, or let them know that you'd like to have work on those areas but that they should expect a chuckle or two.
